Playa del Carmen is in the center of the Riviera Maya. It is a beautiful town with amazing diving opportunities for all levels of divers. From shallow reefs, to deep walls and caves, and just a short ferry ride away from the beauty of Cozumel.
The Riviera Maya is also known as the Caves of Mexico County. We have the largest underwater cave in the world. Some of the cave dives are done in a very safe manner and other caves are restricted for diving.
Best dive sites in the area: Moc Che Deep, Tortugas, Mama Vina, Cenote Chac Mool, Cenote Dos Ojos, Sabalos, Cenote El Pit.
List fish commonly seen in the area: Nurse shark, grunts, bull sharks (winter), parrot fish, angel fish, southern stingray, grouper, snapper. Best time to dive: Year-round. Shallowest dive 8M/26F. Deepest Dive: 40M/132F. Visibility: Perfect. Any Wrecks: Yes, One only. Suit required: Short Wet Suit 3mm.
